The soap holder can therefore cope very well with the moisture that occurs during normal use. However, as with other natural materials, it is important that it is able to dry regularly and does not remain permanently in standing water.
Cork itself will not develop mold if it is allowed to dry regularly. If mold does occur in a constantly damp environment, it is usually caused by residues or other organic matter on or around the cork rather than by the cork itself. The soap holder can simply be cleaned with water and then left to dry thoroughly. Aggressive cleaning products should be avoided, as they are unnecessary and may affect the natural material.
